5 Things You MUST Do With Your New Home Before The Movers Arrive
So, you're moving to a new home! Congratulations! Whether you are moving into a rental property or found your dream home, you’re in for a new adventure!
With the inspections complete, the documents signed, and your keys in hand, it's finally time to start making your house a home.
But before you can start unpacking boxes and furniture, there are a few things you need to do first. And if you are hiring movers, making sure to do these things ahead of time will save you a lot of stress on moving day:
1. Check and Change Your Locks
When you buy or rent a house from a previous homeowner or tenant, you will likely need to change the locks. You don't know who might have a copy of the key, and it's better to be safe than sorry. If your home has a security system, make sure to also change the code.
It may be tempting to simply use the keys the previous owner or tenant left behind. However, it is always best to err on the side of caution and change the locks. This relatively inexpensive and quick process will give you peace of mind as you settle into your new home.
